The Bosch Dresden factory has accelerated operations to cope with the current situation. Stefan Hartung, Chairman of the Bosch Board of Directors, stood next to the new production line and said that after starting work six months earlier than planned, they are accelerating faster than planned. Considering the supply bottleneck in the industry, we don't want to waste any time
But the more telling place may be the large and dirty open space next door. Bosch will turn its attention to this area and plan to invest $3 billion to produce more chips.
Bosch is just one of the participants in the sudden rise of a new wave of investment.
Since the beginning of 2021, the catastrophic global chip shortage has resulted in the loss of over 13 million cars. To this end, chip manufacturers including Bosch, as well as governments including the United States Congress, have pledged unprecedented funding to increase semiconductor production capacity.
This move is not only to solve the shortage problem, but also to meet the growing demand for chips from multiple industries.
